CMS Approval of Medicaid School Program and the Latest Draft of the Ohio Medicaid School Program Administrative Rules

On August 15, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) received from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approval of Ohio’s state plan amendment to allow Medicaid reimbursement for services provided through schools.

The Ohio Department of Education appreciates the substantial efforts that ODJFS has made over the past few years to secure federal approval of Ohio’s Medicaid School Program (MSP) and to craft administrative rules that will assure that the program is compliant with federal Medicaid requirements. Also to be thanked for this accomplishment are those individuals and organizations who have provided their time and their advice regarding the program rules. While not every issue involving the rules has been resolved, it is appropriate to reflect on how much progress has been made.
